En meme temps ce n'est qu'une projection test... a mon avis Sly à de la marge pour réctifier le tire si celà s'avere juste !!

(At least) two AICN readers were in attendance and sent in their thoughts after taking a look at the movie (I am soooooooooooo jealous right now).
The first review says the film suffers from being too devoted a throwback to 80s action fare - the other says Sly completely nails the retroness of EXPENDABLES and that the movie works wonderfully. Essentially, seems like both reviews are saying Sly fully accomplished making the movie he set out to make - no small feat these days.
Keep in mind, EXPENDABLES won't hit until late Summer - so it's quite feasible the film will be significantly tweaked from the version screened last night.

Deux lecteur de AICN étaient présent et ont envoyé leurs avis après avoir vu le film (J'suis trooooooooop jaloux là !!).

Le 1er avis dit que le film souffre d'être trop consacré a un retour au ciné d'action des années 80. L'autre avis dis que Sly ("completely nails the retroness" ????? au vue du reste de la phrase ca doit être un truc bien lol) et que le film tourne a merveille. Les deux avis ont l'aire de dire que Sly c'est totalement impliqué pour faire le film (he set out to make ??) ce qui n'est pas une mince affaire de nous jours
Gardez bien à l'esprit que Expendables ne sortira qu'a la fin de l'été et qu'il est tous à fait possible qu'il sois diffèrent de la projection d'hier soir.

Oui c'est ce que je disai, ce n'est qu'une "projection test" ce qui sert justement a connaitre l'avis sur un premier montage, etc...
Le film sort dans 6 mois donc forcement pas le film définitif et connaissant Sly il va en tenir compte et c'est loin d'être son dernier mot (lol).

Après avoir lu ton post j'ai voulu lire la suite.... Effectivement le 1er n'est pas super emballé par ce qu'il à vu, il a été super troublé par le big retour aux années 80..
Il dit aussi qu'il a pas kiffé l'humour et qu'elle était vraiment mauvaise, mais à la fin il indique que c'est le film parfait pour 1985.. Donc lui je sais pas pourquoi il a été voir si il kiff pas le style année 80

Et l'autre lui vente le côté retour au source en disant que c'est ce qu'ont pouvais rêver d'un tel film !


Mais en plus de ca, c'est une critique faite après avoir vu premier jet du montage final ont va dire... Mais en plus ont sais pas qui c'est ces mecs, des critiquent ultra bidons il en existe pleins aussi !!

Perso j'attend l'avis de Soop sur cette projection, il sera bien nous donner son sentiment en tant que fan :)

bon et bien reste a voir le résultat final..

Eh bien je suis pas rassuré avec ce que je viens de voir, on en attend tellement de ce film qu'au final j'ai vraiment peur de tomber de haut...ce que dit le premier critique me fait peur parce que c'est ce que je redoutais, j'ai vraiment peur que ça fasse trop film de série Z des années 80...
Après je fais confiance à Sly il sait ce qu'il fait et attendons de voir d'autres critiques, faut pas s'en tenir seulement à 2 personnes...

j'ai peur de voir un film à la last action héros avec des repliques bidons mais qui ont fait le succes du film mais dans les années 80 pas en 2010 . . .

le soucis c'est que last action heros s'est planté grave..

Après si c'est comme l'humour de la bande annonce avec le téléphone portable
ca peut etre énorme

Bha moi je dit plus que ca va être comme ça, parce que l'ambiance à vraiment rien voir et en plus, Last action hero ca avait été fait un peu dans le sens d'une espèce de parodie d'action style 80, du moin pour certaines scènes !!!

Ever heard of a little movie called THE EXPENDABLES?!?!

Well, I did, and I swore I would never return to Chatsworth unless I had a good enough reason… Last night, Sly gave me 7 — Rourke, Crews, Couture, Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren!!!!

These are the guys who make up The Expendables, a group of merceneraries hired to overthrow an evil dictator (David Zayas from Dexter) and his crew of thugs (Eric Roberts, Steve Austin and assorted soldiers in black face paint).

If the plot sounds simple to you — it is. You walk into a movie like this expecting to see ACTION and CAST, and I have to say, I saw some of the most famous action stars of our time sharing the screen and killing baddies in ways I never even knew possible.

Here are my thoughts on the film. I’ve never posted anything like this before, but I’ve only ever been to completely shitty advance screenings before (LAND OF THE LOST anyone?).

THE CAST:

We all knew this film had the greatest action stars of all time in one film together, but I was worried coming in that there wouldn’t be enough screen time / dialogue to make the film feel meaty…

Safe to say, Stallone has written a script that gives plenty of bits to every Expendable. Obviously, Statham is the winner here as the knife expert. His character (the badass with a heart) is played perfectly and his fight scenes are absolutely amazing. Trust me, you will look at knives with a newfound respect.

My second fave was Mickey Rourke, the tattoo artist of the gang, who acts as the wise sage throughout the film (think: The Wrestler but with guns instead of elbow drops).

Jet Li definitely has the comedy throughout the film, playing “the little guy” as he shows everyone what’s what… Lundgren was a bit of a miss for me, but only because I couldn’t understand half the stuff he was saying. Terry Crews and Randy Couture both fill in their roles excellently (esp Crews, the ammunitions expert, with his magic bullets).

Stallone — He’s in virtually every scene as the ringleader, but I was impressed by how he kind of hangs back and lets all of these other great action stars play out their roles.

As for the bad guys, obviously Eric Roberts is pitch-perfect evil incarnate. He was born to play a bad guy. Steve Austin is a solid block of beast. (There’s a fight scene in a tunnel at the end of the movie where he just Won’t Go Down.) David Zayas from Dexter surprised me as the dictator, although I could’ve done without the beret.

I think the biggest news, aside from all of these BIG NAMES, were 2 guys that I didn’t even know were fully confirmed for The Expendables — ARNOLD (The Governator) and BRUCE WILLIS. They have a hilarious scene together that’s very tongue in cheek. I’m really surprised Arnold was in this and said the things he said. (I won’t spoil the dialogue.) It just made the entire film come together in a really unique way.

THE ACTION:

Aside from THE CAST, blood is what we came to see, am I right?? Having seen all of the Rambos and really admired Rambo 4, I would label the action as a throwback to the vintage 80s actions movies we all know and loved (First Blood comes to mind).

Obviously, Sly is no James Cameron - and he doesn’t care to be. This isn’t a film you watch with 3-D glasses on. This is a throwback to the pre-special effects days and I found that jarring at first - What, a movie with no blue people?! - but as the film went on, I was cheering and pumping my fists with the rest of the crowd.

As for specific scenes, there are a number of memorable ones that I’m sure we’ll be dissecting for ages - Statham on the basketball court, the explosion on the dock, the tunnel fight and especially the extended climax at the end (where nothing and no one is left standing).

At the end of the day, I really admire what Sly has done here. He’s always had this ability to write strong character-driven stories. What makes The Expendables unique is that there are at least 10 compelling characters to follow… Here’s hoping there’s a sequel!

j'ai passé le chapitre des perso parce que j'ai pas envie d'être spoilé, mais quand j'ai lu le début j'ai eu sérieusement peur mdrrrr... Mais la fin est cool quand il dit qui'il a bien applaudi comme les autres et que certaines scène d'action resterons dans les mémoire....


Mais j'ai surement du mal comprendre une phrase;

c'est moi qui me plante ? Parce que sinon c'est en total contradiction avec ce qu'il dis par après !


Ce que j'ai bien aimé c'est qu'il disent que Sly n'as laissé aucuns des perso, qu'il à fait 10 perso attachant et que d'habitude quand il y'a un gros casting il y'a peu de temps "d'apparition" pour chacun, mais pas ici (même si Statham passe un peu devant les autres... enfin d'après ce que le gars dit hein !)

so I went to the “test” screening last night way the hell out in the Valley. When I arrived the line was out the door and around the building. I was a little surprised that everyone in line knew they were seeing The Expendables. Usually when a studio does a screening of this nature they keep the name of the film under wraps until the movie goers are in the theater..but then again quite a few had no clue as to what The Expendables was so it didn’t really matter. There would be a focus group of approximately 30 movie-goers immediately following the screening so the film makers could get an idea of what did or didn’t “play”…I was stoked.

I found Sly, looking calm and collected, and asked him how he felt about having an audience finally see the film. He said he felt really good about the film in it’s current form, which according to him “is about 85% there.” He was still tweaking the music and a few little things here and there but basically what we were about to see is what the world will see in August…unless of course something hideous happens but I am not going there as I am in my happy place…

so what did I love about the movie…

THE ACTION IS C R A Z Y!!!

Mickey Rourke steals every scene he is in

Sly and Jason Statham create an on screen chemistry we haven’t seen in many a moon

Dolph Lundgren is freakin awesome

The scene with Sly, Bruce and Arnold just freakin killed me…and Bruce is scarily hard ass

Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Terry Crews, Giselle Itie, Steve Austin, Gary Daniels all have pretty freakin cool moments…the film kicks ass, makes you laugh, has heart AND a decapitation…need I say more??

PS…Sly dropped a bomb on me which took me by surprise…it’s gonna surprise you too…

Non bien sûr mais elle a toujours eu l'air d'être sincère et d'écrire son blog comme une fan avant tout (d'ailleurs elle a bien précisé qu'elle avait commencé son blog pour elle sans la bénédiction des producteurs et que ce n'était en aucun cas officiel.

Sly parle de la projection test (le film est à 85 % ce qu'il devrait être, y a encore beaucoup à peaufiner, notamment la musique etc):

IL rappelle aussi qu'après la projo test du premier RAMBO (3h15 de métrage!), son agent est allé vomir dans une allée et voulait racheter le négatif pour le brûler! Sly a donc suggérer de le remonter, pour en arriver à la version finale de 93 mins devenue un classique. Comme quoi de toute façon ces premiers échos, ne veulent pas dire grand chose, faudra attendre la sortie et se faire son propre avis.
