Zurich to honor Sylvester Stallone
BERLIN — Sylvester Stallone will be honored at the upcoming Zurich Film Festival with the inaugural Golden Icon Award for lifetime achievement.
Stallone will personally accept the prize at this year’s event, which runs Sept. 25-Oct. 5.
As part of the award ceremony, the 4th annual fest will present a special retrospective of Stallone’s work, including the entire "Rocky" and "Rambo" series, as well as James Mangold's 1997 crime drama "Cop Land."
Stallone will also present his director's cut of this year's "Rambo" in what is to be the world premiere of the specially edited version.
Introduced for the first time this year, the Golden Icon Award honors the lifetime achievements of an actor or actress.
Stallone will also take part in the fest’s Master Class program, discussing his career with film historian and former Variety staffer Peter Cowie.
The Zurich Film Festival has in the past recognized such filmmakers as Oliver Stone and Stephen Frears, who were honored with the fest’s Tribute award in 2007 and 2006, respectively.
